About Dept of Geopolitics
It conducts policy and academic research on national and international security issues. The Department has produced a number of academic and policy papers on international security issues.
Collaborations
The ‘twinning’ arrangement would offer Manipal University students the opportunity to earn the degree from the University of Miami by taking courses both at Manipal University and the University of Miami.
The American University, Washington, and Manipal University have agreed to establish an academic, institutional partnership, with student and faculty exchange programme.
*The MoU has been signed between the Department of Geopolitics, Manipal University and Master of Arts in International Administration Programme (MAIA), University of Miami.
Careers/Placements
International security environment has been rapidly deteriorating. Geopolitics is a multi-disciplinary area where the large concentration and focus would be to understand the changing international security environment with a geopolitical and geo-strategic focus. The emphasis of the Geopolitics programme would be on the geographical regions and the attempt would be to understand the various regions of the world with an Indian perspective.
Geopolitics would provide a holistic understanding of both international and national security debate by drawing concepts and components from Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Foreign Policy and Science & Technology.
The demand in this field will be consistent. In fact, the supply so far has not been in commensurate with the demand. Job opportunities are immense:
